The Stunning Transformation

Complete residential renovations are the foundation of our company. This stunning transformation of a detached 1920s Toronto home is in the illustrious heritage-zoned neighbourhood of Rosedale. We are proud to share the results of many months of planning and execution.

The property is a four-storey, 5,000 square foot home with a bright, cheery aesthetic. We worked on five bedrooms and a nice sized rec room.

Living & Family Rooms

We create living & family rooms which are classy and comfortable. This living room features an elegant plaster ceiling pattern by Classic Mouldings, a beautiful fireplace, and custom cabinetry by Jeremy MacPherson. Heated floors are throughout the house, including these rooms, installed by Tankless Experts. This family room is floor-to-ceiling single slab Calacatta Super White, enveloping the feature fireplace and adorned by asymmetrical floating flat slab walnut millwork. Tall windows and a triple lift-and-slide door flood the light in.

Kitchen & Dining Room

The dining room and kitchen are where some of the greatest memories are created. This home features the ultimate chefs kitchen with a dual waterfall island. The walnut cabinetry stands out because it is hand-painted integrated cabinetry by Bloomsbury Fine Cabinetry. Along with plenty of natural light, the cabinetry is offset against elegant herringbone backsplash and plaster crown mould by Classic Mouldings. To keep toes toasty all winter long, we brought in heated floors by Tankless Experts with large format Olympia Tile & Stone.

Bathrooms

We want our bathrooms to exude pure warmth. The first exquisite bathroom in this house features white Thassos marble floor and base tiles with decorative marble carpet inlays. Heated floors compliment the honed finish curbless steam shower. Custom work was heavily employed in this room: accent niche fit to the tile install; dual vanity with hidden receptacles, topped and splashed with a very special single marble Thassos slab; and mirrors drop into the marble backsplash and are illuminated by flanking wall sconces. The second bathroom features an enlarged door and matching trim details that highlight this spacious and timeless basement bathroom. Frameless glass and barrier-free shower transitions to the polished concrete heated floor. Floor mosaics match the vanity backsplash, resting atop a specifically sourced Oriental White marble counter.

Staircases

We pay close attention to even the smallest details. Keeping the charm of the existing heritage staircases, we respectfully restored and accented these with elements specifically requested by the client. The feature radiator was cleaned and refinished by Ironworks Radiators Inc. before being securely reinstalled with timeless wall-stays. The landing header height was increased for user comfort and incoming natural light. Stair walls and railings were decorated and refinished with classic custom paneling and high-quality spray paint finish, then complimented by elegant black metal spindles. New stair sections were also added for the recently lowered basement, connecting to a heated tiled side entry and beautiful custom mahogany door to match the front entry.

Laundry Room

The laundry room can be a pain point in most home designs, so we worked to create one that is functional and easy to use. The result is a timeless and organized space that features clean lines, ample cabinets, and a single wall enriched with a penny-round mosaic backsplash.  To make the most out of unused space, we removed an old standing washer and dryer and installed new, more efficient front-loading ones elevated on a pedestal to make it much easier to load in and out.

Gym

For the basement-bound gym, we designed a place to weight train that would fit into the aesthetic of the rest of the house. We primed the concrete slab, installed a soft, professional-grade gym floor, and used a transition strip to separate the vestibule from the workout area. Throughout, we worked within the architectural constraints of this aged home, changing the original flooring to suit the new needs of the client.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom is inspired by the Mediterranean, with an ensuite bath and full-size walk-in closet. The three distinct spaces are designed to allow you to do different things:

  • Relax in the living area after a long day of work.
  • Enjoy a whole night’s sleep in a place of rest.
  • Take in the fresh air from the small Juliette balcony.

Flanked by White Oak hardwood floors and white walls, no stone was left unturned in the detail of this master bedroom. We even created a drywall accent along the ceiling perimeter and installed air conditioning vents that mimic the pot lights.

Exterior – Rear

To create a sunny passageway from the family room, we installed a triple sliding door to the back of the house. They’re the perfect complement to any home’s decor. With each door aligned vertically in stacks, we built from the outside to create more space inside. A retractable screen also opens when you need it in one of the support posts, and when you don’t, it is hidden. This way, you can use triple sliding doors all year round without having to worry about bugs or the hot sun.
